Are you under maximum pressure? You need to make time to think

Jun 7, 2022 | Sector & policy

ISE’s Student Recruitment Conference 2022 offers time to think, learn and get together with peers, says chief executive Stephen Isherwood.

Vacancies are at record levels, the early talent market is the most competitive it’s been in decades, and considerable change is afoot in how students behave. It’s not a stretch to say that most recruiters, careers advisors and industry suppliers are working beyond capacity.

This summer’s ISE Student Recruitment Conference is the perfect opportunity to take time out of the day-to-day, giving you the time you need to think.

Speakers at our biggest event of the year include Anne-Marie Imafidon who will explore how we should think differently about getting women into STEM. Bobby Duffy will challenge the many assumptions we make about inter-generation differences. Professor Juliet Foster will explain how the pandemic has affected student mental health. And Neil Carberry will show that only employers who put growing talent at the heart of their resourcing strategies can succeed in the long-term.

You can get insight to some of what Neil will cover in his blog on Changing workforce planning is key to addressing skills shortages

Some of the questions we will help you to answer at this year’s event include:

  • Have you defined true success measures for your early talent programmes and is your business delivering on them?
  • How can you keep your candidates warm and engaged in a competitive market?
  • Do you know what is driving student decision-making as they choose between university and an apprenticeship
  • How can you elevate your diversity and inclusion strategy and deliver great internships?
  • With less than 50% of students and graduates feeling confident about securing their dream job, why do you need you need to stop trying to motivate students and empower them?
  • How can you ensure diverse outcomes in student recruitment by shoring up true inclusion and creating a sense of belonging?
  • How do you build a high-performing early careers function with data and reap the rewards?

Our Student Recruitment Conference is a good to get away from the office, it’s great to see old friends and make new ones, and the ISE Awards are a great opportunity to get dressed up. But when time and budgets are tight you need to be sure your investment in an ISE conference ticket is worth it.

This is why we’ve worked double hard to build an agenda that’s packed with keynote speakers who will expand your knowledge and make you think differently; it’s why we have created 18 breakout sessions covering the latest best practice in student recruitment and attraction; and it’s why 300 delegates will in Brighton on 27 and 28 June to learn, network and celebrate the great work of ISE members.
